Camaraderie in Community Software Development

We discussed it a little in our last post regarding self-selected experts.

We're incredibly lucky to bear witness to the many acts of talented contribution from the CloudSpokes developer community. However, once in a while, we see something truly special. Like the discussion thread on one of Smartsheet's first developer challenges.

We've taken the liberty of adding a screenshot here of part of the discussion thread on Smartsheet's 'Hello' World development challenge. While this looks like any normal developer thread or stack overflow chat, there's a crucial difference: CloudSpokes runs a competitive crowdsourcing model.

Why would competitors collaborate?

Taking a step back, what brings people to a competition? While the desire to compete can be a primary driver, but it's not always the primary driver. Competition can help bring experts with a passion for what they do, or a passion to learn more. In this instance, community members Enreeco, gauravs23, and wcheung are showing a glimpse of what that looks like in action.

It's a special thing, and we're proud to be a part of it.
