Node.js QR Code Image Generator with S3 Winners!

@timhicks24 - Tim Hicks

Last Thursday we launched a pretty cool little challenge, running in to the long weekend. The ask was to build a Node.js module that accepts a string, generates a QR code as an image file, uploads that image to Amazon S3 and in then returns the URL. This all needed to be also be deployed on Heroku as well.

We knew there were tools out there that did each of those pieces individually, but that didn't cut it for us. With some nice instructions and a good starting point, from a previous challenge, this challenge got some big interest and fast, having 6 participating members sign up almost immediately.

This challenge was going to be no walk in the park. With two of the heaviest hitting members in the community, and toughest judges around, wcheung and Talesforce, the submitters were in for another challenge. Originally this challenge also only had one prize listed. However, with glowing reviews from the community judges, and 2 very good scores, we knew we had to add some 2nd place cash.

After it was all said and done, gfhuertac took home first place, and racked up his second overall CloudSpokes win. With win number one coming only 2 weeks prior, he is proving to be a new force to be reckoned with! Additionally, Aproxacs came in second adding another win to his already impressive profile, and clinching his 45th win overall. A major milestone!

Check out the demo videos for gfuertac and aproxacs below, and keep 'Spokin. The next winners blog could be about you.
